Look below to read up about the background and families of the bunnies!

Marbles

Marbles is a lop eared bunny that was home to the Hassan family in Mississauga! They got him locally, and he lived alongside them since he was 6 months old.

He was described as being a bit of a diva when he was younger, not being overtly affectionate, and adoring essentially any food that wasn't hay, but also that he loved playing in their backyard.

He was temporarily accompanied by another bunny named Goshi (not pictured) until she passed due to complications when neutering, and this exactly was why he never got neutered himself.

Farzana Hassan - one of the primary owners of Marbles - would often host lots of familial parties, in which the children would be fascinated with Marbles, to his mild irritation.

As he grew older he would reportedly be more mellow, hiding in corners, and being more accepting of affection.

As of 2019, he now rests buried in their backyard, where he loved to play.

Bun Bun

Bun Bun is 1 of two bunnies that were owned by the Akhtar family from Oakville! He's a Rex who was taken from a bunny farm half an hour from their home, when he was about 8 months old!

Bun Bun was already a father by the time he was adopted, and he was raised on a big bunny farm, which meant he had a lot of interaction with other bunnies growing up! Unfortunately he was bullied a bit while back there, so the family gave it their all to make sure he was loved at his new home!

He was very eager and energetic, maybe a bit jumpy, but he was also described as seeming perpetually confused, and not too great at following directions, (potty training was apparently hard).

He wasn't that big on touch either; you were lucky if you could even hug him for less than a second!

Despite this, he really enjoyed the company he'd get, and often the family would just sit nearby him while doing homework or going on their phones. He was also eventually accompanied by another bunny, True! Neither of which were neutered for a couple of years, so seperation was put into place for that time, to Bun Bun's upset.

Bun Bun overall was a silly and adorable companion throughout his life.

True

True is the other bunny who was owned by the Akhtar family! She was taken from a separate, smaller, bunny farm about a year after Bun Bun, and was also a parent by the time she was adopted!

She was described as being very sweet, a bit sassy, and more open to physical affection than Bun Bun, specifically taking a liking to the youngest daughter in their family. And while she too was upset that her and Bun Bun were separated, she was less of the approacher between the two of them.

True was a pure-bred bunny, a holland lop, which sadly meant she was easy to get sick; coming down fungal infections and ear infections more and more as she aged, but she was tough, and she braved through any trip she'd need to take.

She also had an array of nicknames! Some highlights being Truebie, Trubie Lou, Lou, True Bun, Tube, Foob, Foobie Lou, The Tube, The little foob, and Shoe (by the dad).

She was the darling of the family throughout her life, and was always someone the family looked forward to seeing every day.

The Story of Bun Bun & True!

The reason why they were bought together - despite needing to be put apart for a while - was due to the fact that bunnies are very prone to getting lonely! And especially bunnies who were raised around a lot of others, could even experience signs of depression if they aren't constantly watched.

So, the family thought it would be an adorable idea to get a girl and a boy bunny! Even if it meant needing to watch them carefully.

Bun Bun was over the moon to meet True, and attempted quite a few times to get over to her before he was neutered, True meanwhile just watched as he did this - their bond started off a bit one-sided...

However, a few years later bun bun was finally set up for his appointment, and he was sent off one Autumn day... before needing to be fully away from her while he healed. True was meanwhile neutered before she was adopted by the family, so she wasn't that distraught (besides the loneliness), but Bun Bun was eager to reunite.

Thankfully, they got along better than ever when they were reunited, and also allowed to be in a room alone together! Bun Bun was a lot more calmer especially and so a lot of the time the two would just sit next to eachother, and lay for hours, also often grooming eachother in sync.

It was no surpise that when Bun Bun passed, True passed not even 4 months after, they were inseparable in every way.

Bing!

Bing is a bunny owned by the Quebral family! He was taken in when he was a mere 3 months old, and he still lives with them to this day!

Bing was picked out by the family due to his signature white nose, he was taken in early in his life in hopes of getting him accustomed to their lives while he was little, and also because the family's daughters were now in college and they wanted to have someone around to play with!

However despite his small and harmless appearance, Bing was described as being a bit mean, and also not really getting along with the family dog (who he was then kept very far away from).

He also had a big interest in chewing and scratching everything possible in his grasp. Despite this, Bing is still cherished and spoiled at his home.

Ruby!

Ruby was the bunny owned by the Banday family in Mississauga - my family! We got her at a mere 5 months old to keep us company while we were getting settled here, and we were delighted to have her in the family.

Ruby was a very hyperactive bunny, she would frequently jump in glee - something in the bunny world called "binkies - so we gave her the whole basement to play in, where often we'd come in to hang out with her while doing work or relaxing - she was a big fan of climbing onto laptop keyboards.

Ruby also loved sweets, and while we were warned to not give her many due to her size and general bunny rules, we, especially my mom, would cave because we just found her so darn cute.

She had a small variety of nicknames, Rube, Rubix Cube, Ruby Thing, Ruby Miss, and Rhubarb were used most often!

Unfortunately, she passed away in Spring 2024 due to an artery bursting in her uterine lining, which is likely to happen to female bunnies if they're not neutered. Ruby was a treasure to be around while she was with us, and she lives on as the primary muse for this project.
